Transfer Options for CIS Majors

Computer Information Systems or Information Technology is a career/technical major.

This means you don't need a bachelor's degree to get into the IT industry!

However, if a student is interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in IT, there are a few transfer options.

Note: there are NO transfer options for CIS majors to Portland State University, Oregon State University or University of Oregon. These is because these schools do not offer bachelor degrees in IT, so these schools do not transfer in CIS classes.

The following universities do offer bachelor degrees in Information Technology.

Before reading furhter, please note: Transfer students are responsible for contacting their transfer school for up-to-date information on the program they will be articulating into. All schools can and do make changes to their programs every year.

Oregon Technology: Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology and IT Cybersecurity

Oregon Technology offers a bachelor of science degree in Information Technology (IT) and a bachelor of science degree in Cybersecurity. OT's main campus is in Klamath Falls, OR. They also have a satellite campus in Wilsonville, OR.

Oregon Tech does NOT accept an AAS Degree in CIS, Cybersecurity or Network Administration as meeting their lower division requirements!!

Their lower division requirements include: two writing classes (WR 121 and WR 227), a number of business classes (EC 201, EC 202, BA 285, BA 223, BA 206, BA 111, BA 211, and BA 213), COMM 111 (public speaking), COMM 215 (small group communications), 2-3 arts and letters and social science general education classes, a lab science, MTH 111 and a few CIS classes. For this reason, students interested in OT's IT degree or Cybersecurity degree should NOT try to complete an AAS Degree at PCC, but rather focus on completing the specific lower division classes that OT requires for their IT and Cybersecurity degrees.
