Employment Quest Course Outline
Today's labor market requires application materials to be complete and professional. Please read & review all six (6) required work search units. After submitting a Resume and Release Form students will be subscribed to the Job List Service and receive co-op/internship/job postings. The remaining units do not require you to submit materials and will need to be demonstrated during your work search.
Following is the list of work search preparation units:
::Resume
Develop a resume. Must be completed to be subscribed to the Job List Service. You may check with Specialist for targeted marketing/editing. Review text on this subject at Resume - Guidelines to create a Targeted Skills Resume. Refer to Skill Statements to create your resume. Review Sample Resumes.
::Scannable Resume

::Cover Letter
Write a cover letter. Utilize cover letters to employers, whenever submitting anything by mail, email or fax or when told to.

::Reference Page
Develop a reference page. You must have this available at any time requested by employer. Get permission of all references to share contact information.

::Portfolio
Consider organizing your materials into a portfolio. You never know when you made need to do a "show & tell" to employers. You may want to use an online website, visual cv and/or LinkedIn to accomodate the same visual aids goal. Review text on this subject at Portfolio - Guidelines.
::Interview Preparation
Develop a skill inventory with proof statements. Make sure you quantify, add statistics, measurability & details to make you stand out as a unique product & to assist in telling the story about your accomplishments in an interview.
