Cooperative Education - Internships

Reasons for You to Do Co-op & Internships

- Explore jobs & careers related to your college major

- Get your foot in the door in this competitive job market

- Apply your classroom learning in real-world settings

- Gain confidence & practice on-the-job knowledge and technical skills

- Build your resume with current relevant work experience

- Expand your professional network in your career field

- Earn academic credit toward certificates & degrees

Co-op Process

- Earn co-op credits at 30 hours of work experience/term equals 1 credit with a maximum of 4 credits/term allowed

- The work experience must be directly related to your Computer Technology major

- Find a work-site, a legal registered business, that is willing to supervise your cooperative education learning experience

- Co-op may be paid or un-paid and could be done at a current employer site

- Sign up for Job List Service, use Job Search Web Links, & use your personal/professional network to discover openings

- Get co-op offer & submit signed & completed Training Agreement and Learning Objective forms to Employment Specialist

- Employment Specialist will review paperwork & add CRN for requested credits, approve work site, assign Faculty Mentor, get their signature & approval of Learning Objectives, and submit completed paperwork to Registration

- Learn & enjoy your co-op experience

- Pay for your co-op credits

- You will be required to submit a weekly Journal & Summary Paper to your Faculty Mentor

- For CAS/OS 280F - Administrative Assistant, you may also be required to take a one-time, one-credit online seminar concurrently with your first co-op experience

- At the end of term, Employment Specialist & Faculty Mentor are required to conduct a short site visit with your employer to review how you did with your Learning Objectives. Your supervisor will also be requested to complete an Employer Evaluation. Your pass/no pass grade will be determined by these, in addition to your journal & summary paper submissions.

  • All List Service opportunities are stored in TCB-312 lobby Job Binders for 30 days - Interns, Entry, Experienced
