  • Google Groups Jobs Recruitment – for part/full time & temporary employment needs. Send to 950+ students/alumni who are looking for resume building & employment opportunities. Supply job description & application process and we will send out opportunity next business day!
  • Google Groups Cooperative Education/Internships Recruitment – for field experience & college credit related to student’s major – paid or unpaid. Supply job description & application process and we will send out opportunity next business day!
  • Coop/Internship Fair – a Fall Sylvania student event at College Center
  • On-Campus Recruitment – schedule an information table at Sylvania will be on Career Calendar
  • Industry Experts – volunteer to work together with faculty members to ensure that educational programs are delivering learning that is current, up-to-date, and relevant to current business, industry, labor, and professional employment practices (could be one on one, focus groups, committees or member of Business or Computing Advisory Boards)
  • Employers may speak in classrooms as industry experts, but NOT as a targeted recruitment
  • PCC Faculty & Staff may NOT refer or recruit students for employers without a public listing being distributed to students via Panther Works and/or a Google Group

Un-paid Cooperative Education/Internships

Fair Labor Standards Act governs how interns must be compensated under federal law.

Six Part Test for Unpaid Interns:

  • The internship, even though it includes actual operation of the facilities of the employer, is similar to training which would be given in an educational environment.
  • The experience is for the benefit of the intern.
  • The intern does not displace regular employees, but works under close supervision of existing staff.
  • The employer providing the training derives no immediate advantage from the activities of the intern and on occasion its operations may actually be impeded.
  • There is no guarantee of a job at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Both parties understand that the intern is not entitled to wages for the internship.
