Section6Dealing with publishers and online homework systems
[copy from PCC] A VPAT is a companyâs own assessment of how their product conforms to U.S. Federal Accessibility Standards (defined by Section 508 [17, 18]). If a school or department is looking into using any online resources, be sure to ask for the VPAT for the online resource. A VPAT gives a school or department a starting point from which to assess the accessibility of those resources. We also encourage the school or department to experiment with the product, as the VPAT tends to be an overall assessment of the product and might not list all the particular pieces of the product that the school or department will be using. This includes evaluating Learning Management Systems and online homework systems. Be aware that a VPAT is a company's own assessment of their accessibility and as such might not always give a perfect picture of the level of accessibility.
