Dental Assisting Certifications

Professional certifications are used to demonstrate a professional level of training, experience and/or ability to potential employers and clients. The following is a list of the most common professional certifications held by dental assistants and other dental staff. As you attain these, list them on your resume, usually under a separate section called "Certifications". Professional certifications may also be use in cover letter, portfolios and even posted in an office/clinics.

Certifications: DANB certified in CDA (GC, RHS, ICE), COA, OA, CDPMA; EFDA, EFODA; Oregon Radiological Proficiency certificate; Sealant certificate; Soft Reline certificate;CPR certificate Memberships in American Dental Assistants Association, National Association of Dental Assistants, National Dental Assistants Association

Equipment/Tools/Instruments

Use the following lists to show the equipment and tools you have used and are familiar with on your resume.You may have additional technologies not shown on this list. List your tools in a separate section or under Skills/Qualifications.

Various hand instruments: Examination instruments (mouth mirrors, explorers, cotton pliers, periodontal probes), scalers, excavators, PFIs

Handpieces: Low-speed, high-speed, ultrasonic, laser, air abrasion, laboratory Rotary instruments: Burs, mandrels, mounted stones and discs

Sterilizing equipment: Ultrasonic cleaner, autoclave, dry heat sterilizer, chemical disinfectants and sterilizers

Operatory & Lab equipment: Saliva ejector, HVE, hydrocolloid conditioner, model trimmer, vacuum former, sandblaster, articulator, dental lathes, wax heater

Radiograph equipment: X-ray machines, processing tank, automatic film processor

Radiographic, Diagnostic & Auxiliary units: Filmless, digitalized radiographic unit, intraoral cameras and perio-pocket detectors, endodontic units, laser dental surgery, electronic target anesthesia, computer interaction
