Course Description: Computer assisted class focusing on advanced writing of typical work-world documents. Theory and intensive practice. Emphasis on effective written products, including correspondence and various reports.  Students will complete and submit technical projects and presentations, and participate in group activities. For students in all scientific, technical, and professional fields. Prerequisite: ENGL 111 or ENGL 101 and ENGR 111.

Projects and Assignments: Descriptions and due dates for projects and assignments are listed on the "Assignments" handout and on the web site. Additionally, all students are required to complete the assigned reading and on-line lessons.

Grading: Grading will be based on a point system. The maximum number of points available in the course is 200. The following scale will be used to assign the final grade:

A = 180+ Points

B = 160-179 Points

C = 140-159 Points

D = 120-139 Points

Point Distribution:

All written assignments should be submitted on or before the due date by e-mail, mail or in person. Late submissions will be penalized.

Attendance: Students who miss more than one class may receive an "F". Students missing one class will be responsible for any assignments due and for any in-class work. Make-up work should be arranged with the instructor as early as possible in the term. An "Incomplete" will only be given for verified illness or emergency. Conflicts should be brought to the instructor's attention as soon as possible.

Accommodation: Students needing accommodation should notify the instructor prior to or on the first day of class. Special arrangements will be made as soon as possible.
