Getting Help
Sylvania Student Employment and Cooperative Education offers a job referral service to graduates and advanced students in our Professional/Technical programs. Students and graduates receive referrals for full-time career positions, and part-time and Co-op positions related to their field of study. For most programs, referrals are sent via e-mail and/or posted on our Career Connections web site.

You do not need to be a graduate to receive job listings, although some employers may require graduation for some jobs. Generally, transfer students, upgraders, and graduates from other schools are not eligible for this service*. However, we offer other services available to these job seekers. See a staff member if you have questions.

Registration

Students/graduates must register for Job Referral Services, complete Employment Quest training (free), and submit the requested form and job search documents. (Information about requirements specific to each major are found below.) Specialists are available to assist you.

Receiving Job Referrals

Job and Co-op announcements are sent out to registered job seekers via e-mail or posted on Career Connections. (Positions may also be posted within program departments.) Job seekers will need a "permanent" e-mail address to receive job information. If you do not currently have e-mail at home (e.g., through your ISP), you may set up an account through various free e-mail services. Most of these provide private access via any computer with Internet connections. (PCC has several public-access computers in our LRCs. The county libraries also provide this free service.) Some free e-mail services include:

Pick an e-mail name that you won’t mind being shared with employers. (Avoid humorous or confusing aliases.) We will not provide a "list" of e-mail addresses to employers. But sometimes an employer to whom you have applied will ask us for contact information.
