Oregon Film Festival
This is the first part of a multi-part project related to the fictional Oregon Film Festival site.
A prospective client who runs the new Oregon Film Festival comes to you requesting your ideas for a website for their company. One way to come up with design ideas for a site is to see what similar companies are doing and what their websites look like.
Part 1 -- Preparation:
- You will use the Site Definition we create in class. Double-check that the Local Site Folder refers to your cas111d folder on your USB drive or computer. (Follow the link and create a new site definition if you aren't sure you have a working one.)
- Create a new folder within your site named oregonff -- this folder should be directly under the Local Site Folder (cas111d) and not inside any other folder.
- Create a new HTML file called oregonff-research.html and save it directly in the oregonff folder.
- Give the oregonff-research.html Web page a document title of "Site Research | Oregon Film Festival" (do not include quotes).
- Create a Heading 1 (h1) on the page that reads "Film and Festival Site Research" (no quotes). Note where the Heading selections are on the Properties panel in Design view.
Part 2 -- Research:
In this part, you will research other film festivals to get some ideas about the Oregon Film Festival site design. Review at least three other websites that relate to films or film festivals and answer the following questions as a list on the oregonff-research.html Web page.
- Below the heading, create a list using the bulleted or numbered list. Click one of the two buttons shown on the Properties panel in Design view.

Answer the following questions:
- List the Web addresses (URL) of three film or film festival websites you visited.
- Which of the three websites has the design you like best?
- What about the design of that well-designed site do you find appealing?
- When you click the logo on that well-designed site, does it return you to the home page?
- What is one characteristic that makes the well-designed site better from one of the other sites you looked at?
- Is there anything about the well-designed site you would change?
- What features does the well-designed site have that the new Oregon Film Festival site should have?
- Write your name under Heading 1 as a regular paragraph (p tag), listed as "by Your Name" (no quotes, where Your Name is your actual name).
- Save the file oregonff-research.html.
- Upload the folder and the file to the SWS using the Site Definition we created in class. Always remember to avoid, file management chaos. To upload the file, click the file name in the Files panel, then click the arrow up as shown in the image below. Note: the oregonff folder will automatically be uploaded when you upload the file so they maintain their proper file organization.

- Mail your instructor using D2l email with a subject like CAS 111d OYO1 Uploaded Your Name (where Your Name is your actual name)
- This is what your final Web page may look like:

Instructor Note:
Be sure to use a browser (or more than one browser) to check your Web pages (or document) is on the SWS.
