Homework: Week 8

Study goal for the week: Introduce graphs; word endings; final draft of the Poetry Speech outlines

Tuesday:
  • NO CLASS MEETING TODAY - I'm sorry! Please stay home and email me any questions
  • Here is the example speech
  • All pronunciation meetings are cancelled this week - I AM SO SORRY!
Thursday:

Please - turn in an Outline today in class!

Work on your speech. Review the instructions on pages 85-91. Here is a list to remember the parts of a speech:

  • The Outline. Example: Tawara and Example: Cullen
  • Notecards. Use cards when you present the speech, turn in afterwards
  • Visual Aid. One page with a picture and any information you want
  • Script: Not required, but if you struggle with grammar, a Script can be a good idea. My advice: Use the "Voice typing" tool on Google Docs or on your phone to capture the words you want to SAY - do not write like an essay.
  • I don't have Pronunciation meetings this week or next week. Read your speech to a tutor. Please try the tutors at the library, because the ESOL tutoring center can be very crowded. Go to the back of the library, towards the Student Learning Center, and look for the Conversation Partners.

Study goal for next week: Give speeches and start research for the Group Presentation Project. Start learning about Graph presentations!
