Do HW

Thursday,
Jan 9: |
- Print this page; complete using our class IPA. Use a good dictionary for the basic IPA if needed, but please notice the word endings!
- Check out the Conversation Partner program. Go to the Tutoring page and click "ESOL." Remember, this is one way to get extra credit for the class. If you are interested, go to the library location and check out the schedule. If you find a partner and stick with them you will get extra credit points this term.
- Learn about the Cornell Notes method. There are MANY online sources: this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtW9IyE04OQ is a great one.
- Read page 6 (advice) and and page 10 (the next assignment).
- Prepare your own anecdote presentation for next week. The topic is on page 10: "Tell the class about a time you did something wrong, but you were not caught." You will talk for about 3 minutes. Write your notes this weekend, so that you're ready to go on Tuesday!
- Listen to Paul Lo Interview for a nice example of how the grammar of anecdotes works.
*There will be a short quiz Tuesday about the syllabus, the first lecture, pronunciation from Chapter 1 and the IPA. Please be ready!*
