Josephine Woolington interned at the Oregon State Legislature during the 2011 session for Representative Tina Kotek. Josephine earned credit for her internship through PCC's Cooperative Education program. As a journalism and political science major, her internship helped her understand how state politics works, and the role journalists play in the political process. During the six-month session, Josephine wrote two House floor speeches for Rep. Kotek, responded to more than 1,000 constituent emails, wrote two press releases, and helped plan events for Rep. Kotek in her North Portland district. She also attended committee hearings, workshops for bills, and sat in while reporters from The Oregonian and The Register-Guard interviewed Rep. Kotek. In the fall, Josephine will attend the University of Oregon to study journalism and political science. |
