Sarah Sanchez

Sarah can plan effectively, both long- and short-term. It is possible that her interest in history helps her broaden her perspective.  The fact is, Sarah has been able to build a solid career, starting literally from scratch.  Several years ago, she started out at a major mortgage company as a personal assistant to one of the loan officers.  Her position was quite low in the hierarchy-she did not even have her own desk.  It could be discouraging, but Sarah knew her goal and knew how to achieve it. 

Her company has been very appreciative of Sarah's commitment and readiness to learn.  She not only got promoted to a far more independent and meaningful position, but she received an even more important benefit: highly flexible schedule.  It was and is invaluable, since Sarah juggles two roles-that of a professional and that of a student.

Sarah's long-term goal is to earn Master's Degree in history.  Her dream is to teach history in a university setting.  Since planning is one of Sarah's strengths, when it came to earning a degree, she turned to Portland Community College.  In less than a year from now, Sarah should have earned enough credits to transfer to a four-year school. Despite having a full load of classes and a full-time job, she has maintained high GPA.

Over the course of several years, Sarah worked hard to learn all the intricacies of obtaining and processing loans.  Her perseverance paid off-the staff of the mortgage company begun to seek Sarah's assistance with many tasks.  Now, they value her commitment, dedication to even the smallest task, organizational skills, and, most of all, excellent communication skills.  Sarah truly enjoys working with people and can successfully navigate through often stressful process of loan processing.

Having to organize life of a student and that of a professional can be tricky, but Sarah learned to use certain techniques to ease the stress.  She sticks to a meticulous time management plan and prepares detailed lists.  She finds these to be very helpful in staying on track.
