• Ties together pieces (chapters, sections, multiple essays, short answers, etc.)
  
  
• Differs from thesis of essay or argument and climax of narrative
  
  
• Theses and climax MUST reflect theme
  
  
• May focus on activities, interests or emotions of main subject/character
  
  
• Multiple themes are acceptable BUT
  
  
  • Limit to two - primary and secondary
    
    
  • Make sure the secondary supports the primary
