Field Trip to Mount Saint Helens 2010
 
Date: Saturday October the 2nd
   
Meet: 9am Woodland Washington
   
Transportation: All students are responsible for their own automobile transportation.
   
Directions: Travel north on I-5 to Woodland/State Route 503 Exit (exit 21).
Meet at ARCO gas station with AM/PM market. Travel time from Portland to Woodland is about 1 hour.

 

   
Dress: Sturdy shoes and clothes. Bring at least three layers.
Be prepared for changing weather! Bring hats, gloves, raincoat, sunglasses.
It will be cold in Ape Cave, so bring some warm clothes!
   
Hiking: We will be taking some short hikes on trails over uneven ground.
The longest hike will be about a mile.
   
Bring: Full tank of gas.
Pencil and something sturdy to write on (e.g. notebook or clipboard).
Money for park entrance fee ($5).
Lunch: bring a sack lunch.
Lantern and/or Flashlight for Ape Cave. (BRING 2 LIGHT SOURCES)
Optional: camera, binoculars, compass, GPS unit.
   
Return:   We will conclude the fieldtrip so that participants can be back in Portland by 6 pm.
