1. Study for the Quiz next time. The topics are a lecture - it will include ideas about placebos and marketing; listening to the I/iy sounds; and signal words. (Here's the Placebos video again!)
2. Practice your Presentation. It WILL get a grade. Be sure to use a signal word like "OK, let's start."
3. Practice saying the poem "Ations." Make your appointment to read this to me in office any time AFTER Thursday class.

1. Remember: there is NO CLASS TUESDAY! The campus is closed. Please don't make a speaking appointment that day.

3. Book: Listen to the lecture, page 34 - 36. Listen for the LECTURE LANGUAGE - words that are used in lectures! Please make notes on your own paper. You will turn in these notes for a grade on Thursday.
4. Also in the book: Read page 36. What does it mean to interrupt? How can you interrupt someone politely?
5. Also in the book: Page 38-39. Watch the example presentations: Presentation 1 and Presentation 2. What is rapport? What were the problems with rapport in the presentation? Be sure you understand this idea.

Next class: There will be a mini-quiz about 1) the lecture, 2) interrupting, and 3) rapport! Be ready!
