   Milepost 1:   Exploring My Career Interests

 

At this first stop, you'll be able to see actual careers and learn about careers of interest!

First, let's review from the previous section what careers you want to explore.  Do you want to look at specific career titles, or do you want to look at broad  career clusters (categories) and see careers listed under each category?

To look up specific career titles, you'll SEARCH BY OCCUPATION in the following exercise.

To look at career listings by category, you can select from these occupational categories in the following exercise:

 

Management (business, financial operations....)

Professional (health, education, law, computer information systems....)

Service (healthcare assistants, childcare, food preparation....)

Sales (retail sales, cashier, product sales....)

Administrative Support (computer operator, data entry, record clerk....)

Farming (farming, fisheries, forestry....)

Construction (building construction, brick-laying, roofing, drywall....)

Installation (maintenance, repair....)

Production (assembler, machinist, printing, food processing....)

Transportation (air, motor, rail....)

Career Profile Exercise

 

In this exercise, we'll be heading to a web site that will enable you to learn about careers or career clusters of interest.  There's just one instruction....

Before you go to the web site,  print copies of the  CAREER PROFILE FORM  below.  

As you read about careers, fill out and complete a separate Career Profile Form for each career that strongly interests you.  This information will be important to keep and take along with you to the next Mileposts.

If you have time, be sure to also visit the  Additional Career Exploration Resources section that follows below.  Links are provided to connect you to additional career information resources!  You'll find a wealth of helpful career information at these sites.
