A. Research Security, Careers or Future Document and create PDF File
(After you have completed Project 6 Part A , go to Project 6 Part B and do the Excel spreadsheet activity.)

This project is to do one short research topic and post it to your SWS account. The topic should have a relevant image and include at least 3 web references. To create the PDF files use the information in the link: PDF Documents: Information and Creating

Pick any 1 of the 3 areas (Security and Society, Careers and Certification, Future), then pick one of the topics within those areas.

Topic Area 1.) Security and Society

Pick one of these topics and write a paragraph expressing your view on the issue. Include a relevant image and at least 3 web references.

  • Cyberterrorism - How much of a threat is it?
  • Plagiarism and Online Papers - How should schools deal with this?
  • Digital Rights Management (DRM) - Where are the boundaries of user rights vs. big media?
  • Spam - What can/should be done?
  • Privacy - Scott McNealy says "You have zero privacy anyway. Get over it."
  • A topic of your choice

Save your document as lastname_Secure.pdf where you would replace lastname with your lastname.

Topic Area 2.) Careers and Certification

Pick an IT certification and describe what additional study you would need to do to get that certification. These could include such things as:

  • Microsoft Certifications
  • LInux Certifications
  • Cisco Networking Certifications
  • Macromedia Certifications
  • Any other IT-related certification of interest to you

OR

Find an IT job (advertised on MonsterJobs, JobDango, ComputerJobs etc.) and describe the qualifications and what additional study, experience you would need to apply.

Again, include at least 3 web references (training sites, certification sites, etc.) and a relevant image.

Save your document as lastname_Career.pdf where "lastname" is replaced with your lastname.

Topic Area 3.) Future

Pick one of these topics to speculate about how things may be different in 10 years. Again, include at least 3 web references and a relevant image.

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Ubiquitous Computing
  • Virtual Reality
  • Another area that you foresee having an impact

Save your document as lastname_Future.pdf where "lastname" is replaced with your lastname.

Now that you have completed Project 6 Part A , go to Project 6 Part B and do the Excel spreadsheet activity.

Submitting Project 6

  1. Transfer your four PDF files to your project_6 folder on the student web server. They will be graded from there. The PDF files you should transfer are as follows:
    1. PDF file of the Career Research Topic you chose.
    2. PDF file of the Spreadsheet data.
    3. PDF file of the spreadsheet data plus the graph.
    4. PDF file showing the formulas in your spreadsheet cells.
  2. If you do not transfer your files as PDF documents, you will not receive credit.
