3. Of the films that we've seen this semester, which one was your favorite? Why? Be convincing about why seeing and studying the film was important for you. (100-200 words)
4. We've seen a number of themes or patterns (e.g., character types, plot situations, visual details, musical details, etc.) running through the films this semester. I'd like you to select one of them and discuss it. (200 words)
5. "Imagining Alternatives: African Cinema in the Year 2000" and "African Cinema in the Nineties" (available online through the IS198 webpage) are both brief explorations of the current state of filmmaking in Africa. Discuss the main points of these two essays. Given what you've seen and learned over the course of this quarter, do you find yourself in agreement with them? What is the future of African cinema? (200 words)
