It's midterm time, and that means showing me that you're on top of film terminology and film analysis. I'd like you to choose a scene from one of the films we've seen this term, through Children of Heaven. Most are easy to rent, and many have scenes available for viewing online through YouTube. 

I'd like this sequence to be self-enclosed (a scene, or some other discrete segment), around 3 minutes long, and to include at least twenty shots. Do your shot description along the same lines as my analysis of the scenes in Casablanca, The Conversation, and Psycho, including both visuals and soundtrack. Number your shots, and please include the running time of each shot. 

Then you'll want to do a one-page discussion of the scene, based on what you noticed by doing your close reading of the scene. Why do you find this scene interesting? What is going on here, and how does it relate to the film as a whole? How do the visuals work to create meaning? How does the soundtrack contribute to the meaning/impact of the sequence? 

Length: Shot-by-shot analyses will vary in length according to the length of the scene; your sequence will probably have at least 20 shots. 

Your discussion of the sequence should be about 250 words.
