1. Based on the characteristics of classical Hollywood cinema given by Bordwell, Staiger, and Thompson, what can you say about the style of classical Hollywood cinema? What kind of artistic style do these characteristics add up to?

 

 

 

 

2. What does the author mean by "revisionist Westerns"? What makes them revisionist? Can you think of any examples of revisionist films in genres other than the Western?

 

 

 

 

3. Look at the excerpt from Double Indemnity on p. 255. What is it that makes this excerpt seem like classic film noir (aside from what the textbook author tells us)?
