Working in groups of four, each team member will assume the role of a marketing analyst. You’ve been asked to prepare a short presentation (to your group only) at the upcoming sales department (see syllabus for date). You will be addressing year end sales performance of two companies of your choice. Please choose two companies that compete in the same industry, i.e. Coca-Cola and Pepsi.
Each
analyst must prepare and present two charts during the presentation. Please prepare transparency overheads
that can be used with an overhead projector.
The charts to prepare and discuss are:
One bar
chart showing the annual sales
performance of the two companies for the last two available fiscal year ends,
i.e. 2000 and 2001.
One bar chart showing the Net Income of the two companies for the last two available fiscal
year ends, i.e. 2000 and 2001.
Clearly label all charts. You are expected to clearly present the figures to your teammates. If you need help with Excel or Powerpoint to prepare these charts, please see the instructor. Time will be spent in class working on Excel.
Assume this is a standard business meeting, where you will need to succinctly introduce and summarize the data for the staff.
Briefly explain why sales and net income went up or down. This will require some research.
This assignment is designed to give you practice into preparing charts, practice in presenting the information back to a group of colleagues and practice in locating corporate information.
