Class Project: World Creation (15 points)

You and all your class members are developing a "world" that would be used in a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). Create a written description, script, or essay based on your role in the World Creation Project. Among the subjects you can choose are (listed in order of their creation since later ones depend on earlier ones):

  1. Landscape, terrain, locations or "areas" the players can roam - the domain of the game
  2. Background story, culture, history for people (player characters and non-player characters)
  3. Economy in the game
  4. Player character powers, skills, leveling, player goals
  5. Team play issues and how players interact with one another, forming groups
  6. Non-player character personalities, dialogue, interaction scenarios
  7. Physics in the game
  8. Missions or quests for player characters
  9. Technology to play the game
  10. and many others to choose from...

This is a written assignment, so you will be writing your plans out and sharing them with others on the Forum in addition to putting them in a Word document that you will send to your instructor. This is a cooperative exercise, so be sure you are not treading to much into someone else's domain, unless you have worked it out with them in advance.

The document should contain approximately 800 words of description or dialogue. For example, this equates to a 2-3 page essay (double spaced), or a 6 page script, or a 3 page list and notes (single spaced), or any reasonable combination. Ultimately, word count is the factor that will be used to calculate if the length was proper. Your grade includes mechanics, content, and use of the Forum. (12 points)

Additionally, you will create a Word document that you will send directly to the instructor that includes answers to the following questions (3 points):

  1. What are the advantages of this team approach?
  2. What are the disadvantages of this team approach?
  3. What would you have liked to do that you weren't able to do because of time, interest, etc.?

Send your instructor an email message with an explanation of your contribution to the Class Project attached in Word format. It should include a subject like:
