Individual Assignment 6: Web Site Analysis
Review the Web site of a medium to large company (not a college or educational site) and complete only ONE of the following analysis exercises:
- Create an outline of the site. If you hit a full four pages, you can stop there! Use the Prudential Verani example in the text for a model of outlining a site. The grade for your outline will be based on how well you follow the Prudential example.
OR
- Consider the usability of the site and answer the following in an essay between 350 to 550 words:
- Who are the users of the site? Are users able to provide feedback, and how can they do that?
- Is it obvious, from the homepage of the site, what the company does and how to contact them?
- Does the site avoid or to what extent does it avoid all of Jakob Nielsen's Top 10 Mistakes in Web Design as described in his article?
- What is another or other issues related to usability that you considered?
OR
- Consider the human factors and globalization issues related to the site and answer the following in an essay between 350 to 550 words:
- To what extent has the site been globalized? List some of the features that indicate globalization.
- If the site has been globalized, in what markets/regions/countries has it been localized?
- If the site has not been globalized, or not globalized very well, what steps could be taken to make it more globalization friendly?
- Consider the cultural issue of color symbolism. What are the potential positives and negatives of this site in terms of how it might be viewed by other cultures?
