Individual Assignment 3: Critique of a Blog
Reply to one student blog posted as a reply to the topic Assignments 2 and 3 on the Facebook group, MM 270 Fall 2009. You should only
reply to one blog and every blog should only have one reply. This means that
if you see a blog post already has a response, look for a different one.
To be effective and receive full points, your critique should be in an essay
format (doesn't have to be 5 paragraphs) and address the
following issues:
- List any areas in which the blog may have strayed from the focus topic.
- List any occurrences of absolutist or libelous language used in the
blog.
- List all occurrences of outside evidence (such as statistics or expert
statements) used.
- Be tactful and constructive.
- Do you believe the blog was convincing based on the evidence provided?
Note: You do not have to agree with a blog to be able to state whether
it was convincing.
- What is one possible counter-argument that could be used to refute or contest the argument in the blog? Note: You can make a brief statement about the possible counter-argument without going into detail. You are not required to provide evidence for the counter-argument, although you should avoid arguments based on emotion or hyperbole.
Send your instructor an email message after you post your response. It should
include a subject like:
