Individual Assignment 2: Controversial Blog

A Web log or blog is an opinion or observation that you post on a Web site which allows readers to respond to or reflect on it. Blogs come from the old tradition of editorials written in newspapers. They are opinion articles.

The challenge in blogging is to be interesting or relevant. Most blogs are vacuous exercises in narcissism or irrational ranting that are devoid of point or purpose (other than perhaps for the therapy of the blogger).

Write your own blog and post it as a new Discussion Item on the Facebook group, MM 270 Fall 2009

To be effective and receive full points, the blog should:

1. Provide your opinion of a specific, controversial subject.
2. Try to lead off with your main argument, then follow up with evidence and/or examples.
3. Avoid absolutism or libel (defamation).
4. Stay relevant and focused on your topic -- avoid straying.
5. Be between 200 and 400 words.
6. Include, as part of your blog, evidence in the form of statistics or a statement by an expert. The evidence should support your position and not just provide background information for your topic.
7. Post your topic as a Discussion Item in the Facebook Group with a title in the following format:

   Assignment 2 - Your Title - Your Name

   For example:

   Assignment 2 - Protect Made In Oregon Sign - Jane Doe

Send your instructor an email message after you post your blog. It should include a subject like:
MM 270 Assignment 2 Posted Jane Doe
