For the last eight years the PCC Sylvania Women's Resource Center has sponsored Take Our Daughters to Work Day at PCC. Our goal has been to provide programs that will boost girls' self-confidence and self-esteem, and provide exposure to non-traditional careers. We have sponsored a variety of activities campus-wide including workshops, tours, and informational sessions.

The Ms. Foundation for Women created Take Our Daughters To Work® Day 10 years ago to help girls stay strong and remain confident throughout adolescence. By encouraging adults to take their daughters and other girls in their lives to work with them for the day - and asking employers to design activities focused on building girls' self-esteem - the Ms. Foundation calls attention to the importance of keeping girls healthy, strong, and confident through their teenage years and into adulthood.

In an effort to encourage girls, boys and adults to "Create More Equitable Future", the Sylvania Women's Resource Center will be developing a Take Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day program for 2003. As Marie Wilson of the Ms. Foundation states, "We are making this change because revolution demands evolution. We will launch Take Our Daughters & Sons To Work™ Day so that girls and boys can learn to work together to bring about a more equitable world - at home, at school and in the workplace."

To find out about the 2003 celebration of Take Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day go to the official site at http://www.daughtersandsonstowork.org. To help organize our ninth year's activities come by the WRC and get involved.
