"The Honors Study Topic brings important, current issues to the fore and encourages Phi Theta Kappans to examine how these issues affect their lives. The topic is utilized and explored through programs such as theannual International Honors Institute. The Honors Study Topic Program Guide is an invaluable tool for your Honors Study Topic explorations.
Since the concept of using the Honors Study Topic for campus forums began in 1968, the topic has been selected to meet the needs of our two-year institutions and their diverse communities. It is always timely, international in scope, issue-oriented, appropriate for interdisciplinary study, and amenable to study on even small college campuses with limited library and research facilities." --Excerpted from ptk.org
This year's topic is "Choices in the Maze: The Dimensions and Directions of Health."

Description and Guidelines for Eligibility:
- Scholarship is available to undergraduate, community college, new transfer students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
- Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50.
- Scholarship is renewable up to one (1) year (for a total of 2 years).
- Deadline to apply is April 15, 2004. Applications may be downloaded by going here.
With award-winning academic programs and a diverse student body, transfer students find that HPU is a great place to complete their studies and earn their degrees. Small class sizes and personal attention from professors who are leaders in their fields also help to create a challenging and nurturing environment that allows students to excel. We also have an excellent Concurrent Program, in which undergraduate students in their senior year can take graduate courses and have them count towards both their bachelor's and master's degree programs.
Applying for the PTK Scholarship is a great opportunity for your students and I encourage you to share this information with them so they can learn more about HPU and everything it has to offer. Please feel free to also share this wonderful scholarship information with your colleagues and the counselors at Portland Community College. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the phone numbers, or email address listed below. I look forward to possibly working with some of your students!
Sincerely,
Deborah L. Nakashima
