SPRING IS LANDSCAPE DESIGN SEASON!
DESIGN COOPERATIVE WORK EXPERIENCE (LAT 280)
Starting in the spring
2003-04 school year, students who are pursuing the design
certificate must complete a design cooperative work experience program.
This is available to second year students only who have completed all
their 1st year requirements and most of the advanced level design
courses prior to enrolling in the work experience.
Students arrange get permission to enroll from Nancy Pitzer,
Cooperative Education Coordinator, at 503-614-7325, npitzer@pcc.edu. Students will be
required to produce for 2 design clients each the following:
Signed contract
Client analysis
Site plan
Preliminary design
Final design
In addition, the student
will produce for the course a time log and journal, a current resume, a
portfolio of work and a business card with logo.
Though this can be done
at any time of the year if the prerequisites are met, spring is the
best time. At the February Yard, Garden and Patio show, potential
clients sign up. The names of these clients are given out to students
enrolled in the co-op work experience to contact and work out the rest
of the arrangements. We have already informed potential clients that
this is a fee and not a “free” design and we suggest that the amount be
$350 for a full residential design. PCC does not act as a broker for
this design work. It simply helps gather the names of potential clients
for design students. Students are obligated to stay within the
legitimate boundary of what they can legally do designer, and not a
licensed contractor. For more information, contact Nancy Pitzer.
