Computer Information Systems: Certificates
Computer Information Systems offers:
- Advanced Career Pathway certificates,
- A one-year certificate in Computer Information Systems, and
- An advanced One-year E-Commerce certificate.
Classes include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint), keyboarding, Business Editing, Records Management, Accounting and Business Math, among others.
The CIS Career Pathway certificates are advanced certificates designed for the IT professional. They are used to update one's skills or expand one skills in Network Administration, Network Security, Database Development, Programming or Web Application Development.
The One-Year CIS Certificate is designed to provide students with entry-level networking, database design and/or programming skills.
The One-Year Advanced E-Commerce Certificate is an advanced certificate that assumes students have completed an Associates degree or higher in CIS or had equivalent work experience in programming, database and/or networking skills. It is designed to prepare students for back-end web development work or web server administration work.

Computer Information Systems: Associate of Applied Science Degrees
We also offer two Associate of Applied Science degrees in CIS. These degrees can be completed in two years of full-time study.
The AAS Degree in CIS is perfect for the student interested in a career in Database Development, Programmer-Analyst or Web Application Development.
The AAS Degree in CIS Networking is designed for the student interested in a career in Network Administration and Network Security.

Transfer Options to Oregon Institute of Technology
Portland Community College has a transfer or articulation agreement with the Oregon Institute of Technology for our CIS students, who are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
OIT's Information Technology department offers three majors:
- Applications Development
- Business/Systems Analysis
- Health Informatics

Transfer students are responsible for contacting their transfer school for up-to-date information on the program they will be articulating into. OIT, like all schools, can and does make changes to their programs every year. You are strongly advised to work with an OIT advisor as you complete your lower-division coursework at PCC.
